Bob’s Your Uncle is comprised of 2 Bellingham musicians. The group formed as a Guitar and Mandolin duet during the 2010 Christmas holiday season performing holiday songs with a Jazz twist supplied by Guitarist Phil Sottile and melody by Mandolin player 2-D.

Phil is a multi-instrumentalist who plays 6 & 12-string electric & acoustic guitars, baritone guitar, lap steel, and Hawaiian guitar. He specializes in bottleneck guitar styles, based on the playing of his favorite pre-war country blues artists.

Phil has been performing in the Pacific Northwest for the last 15 years, with Twang Factor 4, Brett Lovins, and Havilah, and has opened for the Jorma Kaukonen band, Jefferson Starship, Supergrass, and Steve Wariner. Before making his home in the Northwest, Phil toured Montana and Idaho for Young Audiences of Western Montana. He also performed extensively in New York State.

2-D was born in Opava, Czech Republic. He grew up in the town of Ostrava (about 200 miles east of Prague), where his father taught classical music at the University of Ostrava. 2-D began his musical studies with accordion, then later on with the double-bass.

In addition to classical and jazz music his early influences were folk music and Czech unique "tramp music". He began playing the Mandolin in his late 50’s. 2-D plays both country and western Mandolin as well as other instruments of the Mandolin family.
